At the age of 15 Susan Polgar became the top-ranked female chess player in the world.
„Life is short! It can come and go like a feather in the wind. There is no room for regrets as tomorrow is not promised. Every moment is precious so enjoy it to the fullest. Love your family and be kind!” – wrote Susan Polgar in a Facebook post in early February, saying. recently she had been diagnosed with cancer. But luckily, due to early detection and being blessed with an excellent team of doctors, the surgery was successful.

She wrote she would continue to have regular checkups.
One month later she wrote that:
„Just saw my doctor for a cancer checkup. No new discovery and nothing old came back. It seems that the surgery was a success! I am very thankful!”
Susan Polgar was born in Hungary as Polgár Zsuzsa in 1969. She was Women’s World Chess Champion from 1996 to 1999. On FIDE’s Elo rating system list of July 1984, at the age of 15, she became the top-ranked female chess player in the world. In 1991, she became the third woman to be awarded the title of Grandmaster by FIDE. She won eleven medals at the Women’s Chess Olympiad (4 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze).
Fron 1994 she has been living in the USA working as a trainer, writer and promoter.
Polgar has her two younger sisters, Grandmaster Judit and International Master Sofia. Some people think that Judit is the most intelligent women in the world.
