The Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs reported good news.
Audi Hungaria is set to begin production of a new series of electric motors at its Győr plant later this year, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó announced following talks with the company’s management.
According to Szijjártó, Audi’s transition to the new era of the automotive industry — electric mobility — has been successful, with the share of electric motors steadily increasing among the engines produced at the Győr factory. He noted that both models manufactured in Győr, the Cupra and the Audi Q3, continue to achieve outstanding market success.
The minister added that preparations for the launch of the new electric motor series are progressing well, and production is expected to start around the middle of the year. With this new motor type, Audi Hungaria is expected to play an even more significant role within the Volkswagen Group.
Szijjártó also emphasized that Audi’s presence in Győr extends beyond manufacturing, as the company has relocated several regional service functions to Hungary.
“Audi therefore remains a key flagship of the Hungarian economy,” the minister said. “It is one of the leading companies on Hungary’s export ranking, employs more than 11,500 Hungarians — primarily in Győr and its surrounding area — and through its suppliers contributes to the livelihoods of tens of thousands of Hungarian families.”
Summing up the meeting, Szijjártó said that the Győr plant continues to perform strongly and is expected to deliver further successes in the coming period.
