Best cars of 2026 are named in Hungary

The BMW iX3 won the title of Hungarian Car of the Year, with many other cars coming first in different categories.


The BMW iX3, manufactured in Debrecen, Hungary, was named the 2026 Hungarian Car of the Year by a professional jury of automotive journalists in a ceremony held as part of the 7th Greentech Zalaegerszeg Green Energy and Sustainability conference on Friday.

The competition is organised by Automotive Grand Coalition (ANK), Zoldjarmuipar.hu and Jarmuipar.hu.

The Suzuki S-Cross took the 2026 People’s Choice Award.

The Fiat Grande Panda won in the affordable cars category and the Citroen C5 Aircross took the prize among family cars.

The Skoda Octavia TDI was named the best in the category of fleet cars. Among SUVs, the Volkswagen T-Roc led the smaller models, and the Audi Q5 topped the medium and large models. The Hyundai Ioniq 9 won the premium category.

Among sports cars, the Skoda Octavia Combi RS took the top prize. In the LCV category, the Kia PV5 Cargo and the Ford Ranger phev received recognition.

The MercedesBenz CLA proved to be the best among electric cars and the Renault 4 E-Tech won in the affordable green cars category. The Skoda Superb Combi phev was named the best hybrid model.

The Toyota RAV! received the ANK’s special award. The Dacia Bigster, the Chery Tiggo 7 phev, the Ford Mustang GT Convertible, the Land Rover Defender Trophy Edition and the Subaru Forester weer recognised as the jury’s favourites.
