12 Pistols and Narcotics Found in Turkish Truck

The driver attempted to flee from the inspection.


On May 15, 2026, at around 8:00 PM, officials from the Hungarian National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) were inspecting a Turkish commercial truck at an axle-load weighing station located at the 72-kilometer marker of the M5 motorway, on the outskirts of Lajosmizse (Cenral Hungary), according to a report by Police.hu.

Upon discovering substances suspected to be narcotics inside the driver’s cabin, officials alerted the police.

The driver then unexpectedly non-complied with the inspection and fled the scene on foot. Noticing his escape, police officers pursued and apprehended the man.

During a thorough search of the vehicle, law enforcement officers uncovered 12 pistols along with a gross weight of 66.94 grams of suspected narcotics, which subsequently tested positive on a field drug test.

The Turkish national was taken into police custody on charges of firearms trafficking and possession of narcotics. Law enforcement authorities have initiated his formal arrest,

The suspect stated that he intended to transport the weapons in transit through Hungary.
