Call for Reduced Electricity Consumption

To ensure the safe and uninterrupted operation of the electricity grid, Minister of Economy and Energy István Kapitány has requested that the public reduce electricity consumption during the peak hours of 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, the Minister emphasized that maintaining a secure energy supply “does not require major sacrifices, only a few conscious decisions.” He specifically urged the public to reduce the use of air conditioning during the 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM window, suggesting instead that residents cool their homes during the night or early morning hours.

Additionally, the Minister recommended scheduling the charging of devices (such as laptops, phones, and electric vehicles) and the operation of high-energy household appliances for after 9:00 PM. He emphasized that the professionals managing the Hungarian electricity system are working around the clock to ensure a continuous supply for everyone.

Water Restrictions

Due to the ongoing heat, water restrictions are currently in effect in 26 locations, primarily in the areas of Zalaegerszeg and Zalaszentgrót.
